Firstly, i could write a review to stroke your ego, or i could write one to help you take better photos.. ... I am a professional Portrait photographer and would rather write a review for you to use constructively and become a better photographer when shooting this type of image.

The difference between a photo and portrait is that a photo is just a photo of a person where as a portrait tells you a story about that person.

A few rules here you could adopt (or disregard if that's your nature) you should follow to make sore your portraits are even more awesome.

1: never shoot up a nose looking into the nostrils, unless you cant help it!

2: make the model look like they are doing something . this guy looks bored. (ask what is the reason he is like that)

3: while you may intentionally have rembrant effect lighting style under his left eye, it's not quiet right, so i think it was unintentional. it more than likely comes from the fill light on his hair.

4: with the shadows you have created this image would work better in Black and white. however there is so much broad light and flat lighting as well. this would have worked better with loads of shadow to create a deeper effect.

5: Posing is hugely important. what is the reason they do that, sit like that, where do limbs go, his arms are lost in this photo, looks like he is scratching his knee or something, limbs are strong way of telling a story. Also his face appears more round than it is by the lack of flattery with head posing, and neck posing.

6: Give yourself more room in the photo. Dont crop in camera. His right arm coming out and then back in frame looks weird.

7. Your lighting and focus is good but there is no depth to this photo, it is very 2 dimensional. you can create more depth by using more shadow and light effectively, and aperture as well.

8: Eyes are also very important. You don't always need a reason to look at the camera. This would have been stronger if he was looking at his penis, or something. There is more connection with the viewer if you see what he is connecting with. There is no connection with him looking at camera, simply because the first thing you see is his torso. then his head and then his penis. if this was a tight head shot, then that's different. you don't have this problem here but never have too much white in their eyes. they look dead. LOL

9: think about shape. what shape and i creating with his body. currently there is no shape cause there is too much black between torso and limbs.

If your intention is to take a photo of a naked guy, than you nailed it, but if your intention os to take a photo of a naked guy that leave people say wow. then you are not quite there not not too far away...

Hope you don't mind me being so direct in your critique. but as i said i would rather help you than stroke you.
